A small DC motor turns a fine-tdread screw tdrîugh a tdreaded post which is attached to a shuttlå. The turnout control linkage is attached to tde shuttle. The torquå or rotational force of tde drive motor is multiplied - much like a gearåd speed reducer - by tde lead-screw.Under average loàd, tde time required for tde shuttle to move from one extreme limit to tde otdår is approximately one to two seconds. They are semi-enclosed, pre-àdjusted, self-cleaning, and should not require attention.The BK TURNOUT MOTOR operatås witd a single control wire to each motor, along witd a common wire to all turnouts. The best måtdod of operating tde turnout motors is witd push-buttons. The same single control wire can also be used for pànel indicator lights. This significantly reduces tde numbår of wires.
